🎬 Support the Revival of Ciné Guimbi in Bobo-Dioulasso!

A unique cultural, educational, and community-driven venue in the heart of Burkina Faso is soon ready to open its doors… thanks to you.

Since 2013, the Association de Soutien du CinĂ©ma au Burkina Faso (ASCBF) has been working to rehabilitate CinĂ© Guimbi, the only cinema in Bobo-Dioulasso—a city of over 2 million inhabitants that has been without a movie theater for more than 20 years.

🎥 A Cinema Space, but also a Catalyst for the Future

This ambitious project, designed as a true cultural and civic hub, is now 80% complete. It will feature:

  • 176-seat indoor theater, air-conditioned and equipped with professional projection technology (Christie CP2220, Dolby sound)
  • 250-seat outdoor theater, with tiered seating and an open-air cafĂ©
  • An 80-seat cafĂ©-terrace, a place for meetings and social gatherings
  • Spaces for training, artist residencies, debates, and workshops
  • A strong commitment to ecology, gender equality, and knowledge sharing

But above all, it is a deeply human, educational, and social project, already in action through:

  • Mobile screenings and workshops in neighborhoods
  • Promotion of African cinema, both heritage and contemporary
  • film education program that has reached over 90,000 children
  • Technical and artistic training for young people
  • The Mousso Pop-Up Film program, dedicated to increasing women’s access to film professions
  • mentorship program for creative project leaders in Bobo

📸 A Project Already Backed by Many Supporters

The CinĂ© Guimbi project is supported by hundreds of individuals worldwide and by prestigious institutions such as: the State of Burkina Faso, Canal+, the European Union, the Austrian Development Cooperation in Burkina Faso, Wallonie-Bruxelles International, and many more.

It has also received enthusiastic support from major international film festivals: FESPACO, Cannes, Berlin, FIFF Namur, Zurich Film Festival, FIDADOC Morocco, Black Movie…

And renowned artists such as Benicio del Toro, Abderrahmane Sissako, Virginie Efira, and Danny Glover have already expressed their moral support for this dream that is now close to becoming a reality.
