MANYATTA SCREENINGS IS BACK

Manyatta Screenings is back this October with our 7th edition.  The dream of returning to the outdoors is now real!

We are picking up where we left off in Laikipia East, with seats under the Marina night sky and fires to keep us warm while we watch and talk about films made in the region.

This edition toasts the resilience of humanity – our complexity and courage to keep moving forward despite the unpredictability of life.

Below is a sample of the films we have in store.

Our Friday evening opening film is a tranquil recollection of loved ones long gone, in From Here to There by Remy Ryumugabe.

Vanilla by Aganza Kisaka and Heaven Sounds Boring by Patience Nitumwegisa  in their own way, demonstrate the depths of a parent’s devotion and desire to protect.

The pursuit of home and belonging comes through in Hooyo, Why Here? by Neema Ngelime. Faded cautions us of the possible devastation of seeking acceptance by any means. Its made by Nabaggala Lilian Maximillian and Ali Musoke.

Sungura by Lydia Matata and Satisfaction by Yvonne Sewankambo encourage us to confidently explore our sexuality. These films dare us to boldly confront voices of judgement.

Devis Ahimbisibwe uses dance and poetry to demonstrate the devastation of pollution on the environment in Kwetu Kwanza.

Transient by Sharon Urusaro Kalimba is an intimate showcase of two people determined to design a future despite the emotional and psychological impact of the covid-19 lockdowns.
