SUNSHINE CINEMA: June marks the launch of our brand new ‘Film Screening and Impact Facilitator Course’ with the University of Cape Town!

June 12 @ 8:00 am - June 30 @ 5:00 pm

It is rather fitting that we would launch the course component of our learnership program that strives to propel young people to  “inspire, illuminate and inform” using media for impact, at the beginning of Youth Month.

We are honoured to be able to offer an opportunity like this while the South African unemployment rate is sitting at 32.6%, with over 7 million people out of work. This has been an incredibly difficult time. Many of our families, friends, and colleagues have lost their jobs, as businesses and organisations have closed down due to the pandemic.

The Film Screening & Impact Facilitator course is a 6 months UCT certified online course aimed at training film screening facilitators, using film for social change and active audience engagement. The content of the course is delivered by a host of experienced & established Impact Producers, Filmmakers, and Creative Facilitators such as Anita Khanna, Miki Redelinghuys, Wanja Emily, Arthur Pratt, Zackie Achmat, Constance Mogale, Judy Kibinge, Dylan Valley, Sam Soko, and Kushboo Ranka. With modules ranging from the Impact Ecosystem, Reading Film (Content, Theme & Form), Social Change Theory, to Understanding an Audience.

We hope that with this opportunity we are moulding young people not only to become Film Screening Impact Facilitators but people who will actively create entrepreneurial models and systems to boost the economy in their own communities, using media for impact. The course will be open to the broader public to enrol in 2022.
